Face-to-Face Counselling in South West London

Weekly support, held with care, clarity, and strong professional boundaries.

Many of the people who come to us are functioning well on the outside. They are working, parenting, managing. But they are carrying anxiety, overwhelm, or unresolved relational pain.

They don’t need crisis support. They haven’t hit rock bottom.

But they do need consistent, supportive therapy.

They don’t want to feel like they’re “taking a place” from someone who ‘needs it more’.

But this space is for you.

This service was created specifically for people who fall between free services and private practice - whose struggles matter, even if they don’t fit neatly into existing systems.

Who This Service Is For

This service is specifically for you if:

  • You earn too much to qualify for free or subsidised services, but private therapy feels out of reach right now

  • You’re struggling with long NHS waiting lists

  • You want weekly, ongoing therapy

  • You want support that is thoughtful, ethical, and well-supported

  • You are open to working with a trainee therapist supported by strong supervision.

People often choose this service when they’re ready to engage consistently and want therapy held within clear boundaries.

Affordable therapy shouldn’t mean lower standards.

Why The Middle Ground Therapy Service Exists

Too many people fall between the cracks of the current therapy system.

Free and NHS services are overstretched, with long waiting lists and limited session numbers.

Private therapy offers continuity and choice, but isn’t always financially accessible.

The Middle Ground Therapy Service exists to sit between these two worlds.

What Sets Us Apart

The Middle Ground Therapy Service offers weekly, face-to-face therapy within a robust clinical framework. Therapy is provided by trainee therapists in advanced training, supported by supervision and oversight, and sits perfectly between free (and means-tested) services and private practice

How Therapy Works Here

Therapy sessions take place weekly, at a fixed time, and last 50 minutes.

Clients begin with an initial assessment to ensure the service is a good fit.

If suitable, you will be offered a weekly session with a trainee therapist, matched according to availability and clinical suitability.

Therapy is typically offered in blocks of 12 sessions, with progress reviewed at the end of each block to decide next steps together.

Therapists work within a clear clinical framework, supported by regular supervision and oversight from the service.
